The original Coat of Arms was designed in 1972 by Mrs Nell, the school launched a competition in Newcastle which was sponsered by Mr Bill Harvey, who was the manager of a clothing store in Newcastle. The original Coat of Arms can be found here:
Arbor Park Primary School is a public school governed in accordance with the South African Schools Act. Admissions are administered by the Department of Education through the Principal, in consultation with the School Governing Body (SGB), and are guided by the best interests of the child.
Applications for admission open in April and close at the end of October for the following academic year. Applications must be submitted by a learner’s legal parent or guardian and must include all required supporting documentation.
Admission is subject to age requirements, language of instruction, and the school’s maximum capacity. Once capacity is reached, no further learners can be admitted.
When the school is oversubscribed, preference is given to learners who:
Reside within the school’s feeder area (Newcastle)
Choose the school’s language of instruction
Have siblings currently enrolled at the school
If parents or guardians are unable to pay school fees, they are required to apply in person at the school for a school fee exemption, in accordance with the relevant regulations.
Parents will be informed in writing of the outcome of their application. Unsuccessful applicants may appeal in terms of the South African Schools Act.
A full Admissions Policy, signed by the School Governing Body (SGB), is available for inspection at the school.
